Global CIO announced the results of the "Project of the Year"

The Project of the Year contest organized by professional IT community Global CIO was held for the first time this year. More than 80 projects from 15 countries were applied, more than 120 comments were left on the projects, and 347 votes were cast. 50 of the most interesting and outstanding projects made it to the final of the contest. During the voting there was a really hard struggle for supremacy in a number of nominations, and some participants managed to take leading positions in several categories at once. In addition to the leaders of the voting, the organizing committee of the contest could not help but awarded several solutions that attracted special attention.

"Project of the Year" gives CIOs from all over the world a unique chance to present their achievements and be recognized by their peers. At the same time, it is an excellent opportunity to learn new best practices and experience of colleagues for further implementation in their companies.

"Global CIO is a professional IT community founded 10 years ago. During this time we realized that the most important asset is the people running the IT industry. So we decided to create a space where IT leaders can share best practices and achievements. This is how Project of the Year was born," - Ekaterina Egorova, Project Manager of the Top 100 IT Leaders project, shared the story of the contest.

Opening the Awards Ceremony, Katerina Lyasko, CEO of Global CIO, welcomed and thanked all the contest participants: "Every nominee of the Project of the Year contributes to the development of IT worldwide. We have seen how many IT executives visited the contest website in search of new ideas and best practices for their work. Thanks to all the participants for their contributions, and we are delighted that today you will be able to be recognized by your peers".

In addition to Katerina’s speech, Dr. Jean-Pierre Auffret, Co-Founder and Vice President at the International Academy of CIO, emphasized the importance of not only the competition itself, but also advanced echnologies: "The competition emphasizes innovation, insight, dynamism and leadership among the global CIO community. CIO leadership and project innovation are particularly challenging this year because of rapidly evolving technologies such as generative artificial intelligence and robotics. These are technologies that are making major changes in government, society and science".

The practical relevance of the competition was also noted by its participants. "By recognizing and appreciating the efforts of others, we create an environment conducive to growth and success" - emphasized Vijaykumar Dayinde, CIO at Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad. Nariman Mukushev, Deputy Chairman of HalykBank (Kazakhstan), in his speech expressed his gratitude to the community for the opportunity to share experiences with colleagues and the chance to discuss the projects in a relaxed environment.

The winners of the Project of the Year 2023 competition are IT leaders from India, Malaysia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Iraq and Brazil. Digital Transformation Projects Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, TAV TECHNOLOGIES, KZ Recycling Ltd, SEG ENERA, Central Bank of Armenia, Commercial Bank Kyrgyzstan, Halyk Bank, Kazakhtelecom, Tele2/Altel and a number of other major international companies were recognized with awards.

"It's a privilege to be recognized among many outstanding projects and it inspires us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in digital governance" - said Erol Ozguner, CIO of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Speaking about digital transformation in industry, Dmitrii Krikunov, Head of production automation and optimization office at SEG ENERA, emphasized that there is still a lot to be done, but the Global CIO community helps the company to overcome these challenges faster, catch up with leaders and as a result become a technological leader.

The ceremony was held online, but attendees agree that the event helped them to experience the community with colleagues from around the world and enjoy the awards. "Thanks to the Global CIO team for conducting such events across the Globe. In fact, it was a double win for me: first the award and second the gift!" - thanked the organizers Soumitro Chatterjee from Persistent Systems Limited and expressed his hope for more meetings with community members.
