Goals
  • Replace an Excel-based approach at a large yachts manufacturing
  • Support the rapid business expansion with process automation: from 2 projects in 2009 to 16 simultaneous projects in 2023
  • Decrease additional costs connected with manual warehouse control and procurement
  • Create a fully customizable digital ecosystem flexible enough for scaling
Project Results
As the project is being implemented now, the forecasted results include:
  • Real-Time Access for Requestors: At any given moment, internal requestors have the power to access precise information regarding the inventory status of components available in the warehouse, as well as the current status of ordered equipment. This streamlined transparency empowers stakeholders with up-to-the-minute insights, fostering informed decision-making and efficient project management.
  • Elimination of Unnecessary Procurements: By implementing the CRM system based on CMW Platform, superfluous purchases that could have otherwise inflated project costs by 7-10% can be successfully eliminated. This cost-saving measure ensures that resources are allocated judiciously, aligning with the project's financial objectives and optimizing its overall economic efficiency.
  • Reduction in Time and Labor Investments: Automated processes substantially reduce the time and labor investments required within the yacht's construction projects. This enhanced efficiency not only accelerates project timelines but also minimizes the workload placed on project personnel. The result is a more streamlined and resource-efficient project management approach, aligning with industry best practices.

The uniqueness of the project

Bering Yachts wanted to digitize 7 different warehouse locations around the world, as well as the procurement process connected to them. One warehouse may contain thousands of yacht construction components, collectively valued at over $10,000,000, presenting intricate supply chain challenges and intricately orchestrated delivery routes. All warehouses, equipment and logistic routes converted to the digital platform have marked the beginning of the company's digital ecosystem.
Moreover, owing to the rapid business growth during the COVID pandemics - x8 times more projects than before, the company needed a fully custom solution that corresponded to the yacht manufacturing requirements and was flexible enough to let business analysts make changes on-the-run.

Difficulty of implementation
The complexity of implementing the project arises from established work standards that need to be completely changed with the introduction of new technology and the unique peculiarities of ship manufacturing, encompassing logistics and procurement. This multifaceted challenge demands a tailored approach that can effectively bridge the geographical divide, harmonize diverse expertise, and navigate the intricacies of superyachts production, particularly in the realms of supply chain logistics and strategic procurement.
Project Description

Bering Yachts specializes in crafting ocean-worthy steel yachts. Since 2009, it has successfully completed 13 yacht and superyacht projects, with an additional 16 currently (2023) in progress. Each project consists of complicated business processes, logistic routes, procurement and warehouse control. With the beginning of unprecedented business expansion during the COVID, Bering Yachts felt the burning necessity to switch from an error-prone Excel-based approach to the digital transformation of the business.

Out-of-the box solutions didn’t meet all the requirements of the company, so Bering Yachts chose CMW Platform that provided full flexibility, low-code advantages and customer support to build a custom CRM system. Warehouse management and procurement were taken as the first-priority tasks to be automated in CRM.

Tasks included:
1. Streamline Cross-Border Logistics: Implement an advanced logistics automation system to efficiently manage the movement of yacht components and materials between warehouses located in different countries. This will involve optimizing shipping routes, reducing transit times, and minimizing associated costs while ensuring timely delivery of goods.

2. Enhance Warehouse Management: Automate the warehouse operations to enhance overall efficiency and accuracy. This includes implementing state-of-the-art inventory tracking and management systems to ensure the smooth handling and storage of yacht parts and materials. The goal is to minimize errors, reduce manual labor, and increase the overall productivity of the warehouses.

3. Establish Robust Record-Keeping: Develop a comprehensive digital record-keeping system for all goods and yacht components. This system will encompass detailed records of each component's origin, quality, and quantity, ensuring traceability and compliance with industry standards. The aim is to maintain precise documentation for quality control and regulatory purposes.

4. Maximize Return on Investment (ROI): Implement strategies to improve the overall profitability of the yacht manufacturing project. This includes optimizing production processes, reducing repeated procurement, and exploring opportunities to shorten manufacturing time.
