The uniqueness of the project
AI is almost running the Plant with seamless integration with all applications
SAP awarded us for the best ALM usage, over 30 global companies participated including British Petroleum and Airbus and we were top at the list.
Project Sumruddhi is unique due to its end-to-end digital transformation, seamlessly integrating over 8 applications with SAP using SAP CPI in a multi-cloud environment. Key systems are hosted across Azure (CRM), AWS (LIMS), and GCP (Rise with HANA), ensuring flexibility, scalability, and operational efficiency.
The integration of Advanced Process Control (Aspen Tech) with IP-21 (SE), PAR (Honeywell), and ABB’s tanker filling app enhances automation and real-time data management, critical for optimizing manufacturing operations. Additionally, TEG for logistics and a tightly integrated LIMS with SAP ensure seamless, real-time transactions, driving smarter, data-driven decision-making.
This project not only standardizes processes but enables a future-ready, scalable infrastructure for ongoing growth and innovation.

Challenges in Implementing Project Samruddhi:
-
Complex system integration:
- Integrating multiple systems like SAP S/4HANA, SAP ARIBA, Microsoft Dynamics, LIMS, Weighbridge Apps, and APC (Aspentech) posed significant technical challenges, requiring precise coordination across various platforms.
-
Cross-functional alignment:
- Aligning processes across diverse functional areas (procurement, production, finance, supply chain) required extensive change management efforts to ensure all departments adopted the new systems efficiently.
-
Data migration issues:
- Migrating legacy data into the new SAP S/4HANA system, while ensuring data accuracy and consistency, proved to be complex and time-consuming.
-
User adoption and training:
- Given the scale of transformation, ensuring that all users were fully trained and able to leverage new systems like SAP ARIBA and Tableau required extensive training programs and ongoing support.
-
Integration of smart manufacturing tools:
- Integrating smart manufacturing tools like APC (Aspentech) and IP-21 with existing systems was challenging due to differences in data protocols and operational workflows.
-
Coordination across multi-cloud environments:
- Managing a MultiCloud infrastructure across GCP, Azure, and AWS added complexity, particularly in terms of ensuring seamless data flow and maintaining system performance.
-
Customization and configuration:
- Configuring SAP modules (FICO, SD, MM, PP, QM) to meet specific business requirements involved substantial customization, which increased the implementation timeline.
-
Governance and risk management:
- Ensuring robust governance, compliance, and risk management during the transition required careful monitoring, as sensitive access logs and automated governance tools were deployed.

- Project Description
-
Introduction: Project Samruddhi is a game-changing enterprise-wide transformation at Deepak Phenolics Limited (DPL). By leveraging SAP Rise with HANA and integrating a wide range of cutting-edge systems, DPL has streamlined operations, enhanced efficiency, and embraced smart manufacturing. The project’s core goal was to digitize, standardize, and optimize business processes across procurement, production, finance, and supply chain management.
Strategic Vision and Implementation: At the heart of Samruddhi is the implementation of SAP S/4HANA, integrated with modules like CPI, FICO, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, PS, and ALM. Alongside this, SAP ARIBA optimized sourcing and auctions, and Microsoft Dynamics enhanced customer relationship management. A parallel track focused on MultiCloud, GCP, Datalake, and Tableau empowered data analytics, scalability, and real-time insights, further driving innovation.
Key Features and Systems:
-
Smart Manufacturing Integration: Systems like APC (Aspentech), IP-21, and PAR enabled real-time production analysis, while LIMS, Weighbridge, and ABB Tanker Filling Apps streamlined quality and logistics operations. Together, they delivered improved production accuracy and efficiency.
-
Automation and Real-Time KPI Monitoring: The integration of SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics provided real-time insights into KPIs like Customer Ageing, Sales Volume, and Payables, driving faster, data-based decision-making. Automation also covered compliance reporting, reducing manual interventions and ensuring timely submissions.
-
Supplier and Sourcing Optimization: With SAP ARIBA, DPL achieved a 360-degree view of suppliers, optimizing sourcing decisions. Fully digitized processes reduced cycle times and improved supplier management.
-
Employee Management Systems: HR operations were optimized with Darwibox (employee performance management) and Paysquare (payroll administration), ensuring smooth workforce management.
-
System Integration and Supply Chain Optimization: Seamless integration with CRM, TEG (logistics), and CBA (service app) ensured real-time data flow across all business areas, enhancing operational efficiency.
-
Improved Governance and Risk Management: By leveraging SAP ALM, DPL enhanced governance with automated logs and sensitive access tracking, reducing risk and improving compliance.
Impact and Outcomes:
-
Operational Efficiency:
The MRP process saw automation reduce planning time from 15 days to 1, significantly improving inventory management. Procurement turnaround times decreased by 16 days, and production cycle times were shortened by 60%, streamlining operations. -
Cost and Profitability Optimization:
Integration of COPA provided visibility into product-level profitability, improving cost management. Automation reduced stock-out scenarios and manual errors, driving operational cost savings. -
Scalability and Data-Driven Decision Making:
With MultiCloud and Data Lake solutions on GCP, DPL scaled its operations, making data-driven decisions with enhanced analytics using Tableau.
Future Vision: Deepak Phenolics aims to further expand its digital capabilities by integrating SAP Group Reporting for consolidated financial management and SAP IBP for optimized supply chain planning. Machine learning through SAP ISLM will drive continuous improvements, positioning DPL as a leader in smart, agile manufacturing.
