- Goals
-
Quickly develop an automated solution for processing paper documents in a large-scale government housing program using RPA and AI (OCR).
- Project Results
-
- Unlocking 10,500 work hours;
- Integrating two advanced automation tools, RPA and OCR, to handle paper documents;
- Accelerating solution development with the capabilities of Python.
The uniqueness of the project
- Automating the handling of numerous paper documents became essential: each document needed to be verified for accuracy and entered into the accounting system;
- In record time, Otbasy Bank's developers created an automated document processing project using Python RPA and OCR solutions;
- The robot handled 2,000 documents daily, equivalent to the work of 13 employees. Thanks to the RPA + OCR integration, this large volume was managed in the background without needing extra staff.
- Used software
-
Python RPA, Tesseract
- Difficulty of implementation
-
- Limited time for project implementation;
- Recognition quality of documents attached by bank clients is often poor.
- Project Description
-
Automation was needed for processing a large volume of paper documents: users uploaded scans to the portal, and each file’s data had to be verified for accuracy, with results recorded in the internal system. Manual processing took three minutes per document, and resources were insufficient, requiring either staff expansion or rapid automation of the process.
The IT team at Otbasy Bank swiftly developed a bot using the Python RPA platform, selecting Tesseract OCR for document scan recognition. The process for handling each document is structured as follows:
• The client uploads documents to the bank portal;
• The RPA bot uses OCR to review the documents;
• If the document meets requirements, the RPA bot records it in the internal system;
• If the documents do not meet requirements, the application is rejected.
