Goals
The global goal is to label clothing and footwear in China and import them into Russia with DataMatrix codes already applied.
Several subgoals:
  • technical project regarding data exchange with ERP
  • Creation of entry point mechanism from SAP PI to" Cleverence" for different suppliers
  • Organization of secure access from factories and from SAP PI to Databases in Data Center via secure VPN channels
  • Optimizing data transfer from SAP PI and reducing the time for data uploading
  • Testing the software at the vendor's site at the factory
  • "Cleverens" software finalization in accordance with the requirements of business processes
  • adding the possibility to work with new product category - LEGPROM
  • Development of new operations and modification of existing ones
  • conclusion of Mobile Application compatibility with new equipment - Zebra TC26
  • finalization of data exchange of ERP PI and "Cleverens" systems in "Batch Load" technology
  • integration of equipment used in the project with Mobile SMARTS
  • technical support from "Cleverence" 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The uniqueness of the project

  1. Distribution algorithm - "Cleverens" has implemented a dispatching mechanism to which database labeling jobs should go and from where they should return to the "LENTA". In a fan fashion, it spreads everything out to the addresses: "LENTA" sends all the data to the point one IP address at a time and uploads it via SAP PI. For "Cleverence", the point is a special IIS server (Internet server). And it already "looks" where all this should go. Then it distributes it through a special base, which "Cleverence" also made: something goes to a specific IP address, something goes to the second factory, and so on.
  2. Refinement of operations in relation to business: there are no engineers at "Lenta's" factories in China. Ordinary packers work: they can't set up the network, Wi-Fi, VPN, and so on. For all of this, "Cleverence" did the instructions, did the remote training.
  3. "Cleverence" actually became the operator of LENTA in China to support the entire labeling system. We customized the message with OMNI to work without errors.

Difficulty of implementation
After "LENTA" and "Cleverens" signed a cooperation agreement, it turned out that it was impossible to upload factory data to the Mobile SMARTS server. This would have required a complete reconfiguration of SAP and making special tables. Therefore, we decided to make modifications to the software for the data collection terminals.

Data collection terminals are like a separate part of the story: the RTDs produced in China and in Russia are different equipment with different firmware. We could not do as we did in the previous projects: purchase in China, bring them to Russia, test them, integrate them with Mobile SMARTS, and put them into operation freely. Neither was it possible to take the equipment in Russia and send it to China. The factories had to buy the terminals themselves in the Celestial Empire.

Lenta's partner in China together with specialists from "Cleverence" tested the RTD for several days via a remote connection. And only after receiving successful results they purchased Zebra TC25 and Zebra TC26 data collection terminals.
Project Description
The federal retail chain "LENTA" has completely eliminated errors in marking goods in production in China. To do this, they integrated SAP ERP and GISMARK with "Cleverence" mobile application, which generates packing lists with an attached register of stamps on imported supplies, and put Zebra TC25 and Zebra TC26 RTDs into operation.

If until recently it was still possible to sell in Russia labeled goods of light industry and footwear of foreign production with errors in the DataMatrix codes - while the project was at the stage of testing, now the products without the printed or with the wrong DataMatrix code on the package can only be written off. This results in enormous losses for the retailer.

The manual labeling process at factories in China would take up to a week. Even despite the convenience of SAP ERP accounting, the number of incorrect CMs reached 60% in one shipment.
All the work on the SAP ERP side was performed by NOVARDIS, a large integrator, as well as some work on the CM order from "Honest Sign".
