Top 100 IT Leaders Meeting in Kazakhstan

24 May 2023

On May 18th, the annual meeting of the international club Top-100 IT Leaders took place in Almaty. The speakers of the event were representatives of Kazakhstan’s leading companies.

Daniyar Shaimerdenov, CIO of the Petroleum Group of Companies, shared the practice of developing and implementing a rolling stock accounting system and automation of station work at the railway station.

Nurlan Nurgazin, Chief Digital Transformation Officer of the agricultural holding AITAS KZ, talked about how IT solutions became a driver of efficiency in agriculture.

Malik Amardinov, Chief Digital Officer of the telecommunications company Kcell, discussed the challenges of modern IT infrastructure in the style of the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels movie. He compared the chaos that leads to conflicts and unpredictable results in the movie to the chaos in technology development when attempting to execute too many projects at the same time. According to Malik, the main challenge of a quality IT architecture is the necessity to always remain flexible and adaptive, just like the quick-witted characters in Guy Ritchie's movies.

The guests were highly interested in the speakers' presentations and actively asked questions. The discussion continued after the speeches and moved to informal settings, where the event attendees had the opportunity to discuss what they heard and share their opinions.
