Altman and some OpenAI employees moved to Microsoft
On November 20, 2023, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the hiring of Sam Altman, Greg Brockman and other ex-OpenAI employees. They will be involved in a new team to create and research advanced AI.
“We are thrilled to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, along with their colleagues, will join Microsoft to lead a new team dedicated to creating advanced AI. We intend to provide them with everything they need to succeed as quickly as possible,” Nadella said.
Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary investor and will continue its ongoing collaboration with the company.
“The mission continues,” Altman clarified his current status.
Earlier, OpenAI co-founder and board member Ilya Sutskever told employees that Sam Altman would not return to the post of CEO, despite efforts by company executives to return him.

Following Altman, OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, research director Jakub Paczocki, team leader that assesses potential risks associated with AI, Alexander Madry, and researcher Shimon Sidor, who worked at OpenAI for seven years, announced their departure from the company.
