Huawei President for the Middle East and Central Asia region met with the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Minister Sherzod Shermatov and Huawei President for the Middle East and Central Asia region, Mr. Yi Xiang, to discuss further cooperation on the introduction of digital technologies in various sectors of the economy and social spheres, modernization of ICT infrastructure, digitalization of industries, and also on conducting educational programs to support digital youth and improve the skills of specialists.

During the meeting, representatives of Huawei discussed the work done in the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with local telecom operators and ecosystem partners as part of the implementation of the “Digital Uzbekistan 2030” development strategy. Plans were announced for the company’s further activities in the field of introducing advanced telecommunications technologies to ensure ubiquitous communication coverage, for cooperation in expanding the capabilities of the existing data processing center for digital government and the implementation of the next phase of data center construction, expanding the activities of the Regional Resource Center for Marketing and developing technological solutions solutions (Marketing and Solution Sharing Center) based on the Huawei office in Uzbekistan, as well as accelerating the process of digitalization of the industry in the country.

During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to improving the ICT skills of specialists in the field and the release of educational projects for young talents on the basis of existing ICT Academies in universities of Uzbekistan and the Seeds for the Future initiative, as well as the introduction of digital technologies in local universities.

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov noted the long-term cooperation with Huawei in the field of strengthening ICT infrastructure and expressed gratitude for the joint efforts to nurture digital youth, welcoming the company's choice of Uzbekistan as the next country to host the large-scale educational program Seeds for the Future 2024 for students from Middle East countries East and Central Asia, and also called for further fruitful work on the implementation and development of ICT to increase export potential and accelerate the digital transformation of Uzbekistan.
