Apple will add AI to mixed reality headsets
Apple is working to bring Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to sources .
From a technical point of view, integration should not be a problem, the agency noted. The device's 16 GB of memory is enough to power AI, and new features like writing tools, ChatGPT, and an improved Siri are a good fit for the Vision Pro, especially if the Cupertino company continues to position the glasses as a tool for working and performing computer tasks.
It will be more difficult for the user interface design team to implement the correct display of new functions in a mixed reality environment, according to Bloomberg.
Among the problems, the agency noted the load on Apple's cloud computing infrastructure. This is one of the reasons why the company decided to add AI features only to new devices. Vision Pro was not sold on a large scale, so the problem described should not be too big.
According to Bloomberg, Apple Intelligence will not appear in mixed reality headsets this year.
As a reminder, in June Apple announced ChatGPT integration and a major Apple Intelligence initiative on iPhone 15 Pro, iPad, and Mac with M1 chips or later.
Elon Musk has threatened to ban the corporation's devices from his companies if its plan is implemented due to security concerns.
Apple previously cancelled the launch of its AI in the EU in 2024 due to “regulatory uncertainty”.
