The National Bank of Kazakhstan is introducing a single QR system without competition from Kaspi and Halyk
The head of the National Payment Corporation of Kazakhstan (NPC) Binur Zhalenov commented on the implementation of the unified banking QR code system, emphasizing that this solution is not aimed at competing with existing solutions such as Kaspi and Halyk Bank.
Zhalenov stated that the unified QR code system being developed by the National Bank will not replace the existing commercial bank systems. The new technology will be an addition that will allow users to pay via QR codes, regardless of which banking application they use.
According to Zhalenov, the new functionality is being added in a way that preserves existing solutions such as Kaspi. Users will now be able to make payments using a single QR code from any banking application, making the process more universal and convenient.
Zhalenov explained that the delay in the process is due to the need for thorough testing to avoid technical errors and possible financial losses. The implementation of the system involves complex integration with many banks, which takes time.
The project is being implemented using internal resources of NPK, so no significant development costs are expected. The final costs will be assessed after the project is completed, and the rates for transfers between banks are planned to be affordable and beneficial for users.
