Vietnam plans to migrate all networks to IPv6 by 2030

Vietnam has unveiled an ambitious digital infrastructure strategy that includes moving all local networks to IPv6. The plan, outlined in Decision No. 1132/QD-TTg, aims to achieve key targets by 2025 and 2030, with a focus on expanding network capacity, increasing connectivity and building sustainable data centers.

 By 2025:

Construction of two new submarine cables (necessary for internet speed stability).
Universal connectivity to fiber optic networks and 5G in all cities and industrial zones.
Development of AI-ready data centers with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) index of less than 1.4.

 By 2030:

Full transition to IPv6.
5G networks covering 99% of the population.
Six new submarine cables providing the country with 350 TB/s network capacity.
Vietnam also plans to attract foreign and local investment to build hyperscale, AI-centric and regional data centers.
