The tech giant has deployed its Gemini Nano Large Language Model (LLM) to protect users from scammers and plans to launch new alerts on Android to highlight spam notifications.

Chrome's enhanced protection mode provides the "highest level of security" against phishing and other online threats. It will warn you about risky websites, including ones you may have previously missed.

“Gemini Nano AI is ideal for this purpose due to its ability to analyze the diverse and complex nature of websites, helping us adapt more quickly to new fraud tactics,” the corporation said in a blog post.

The measures apply to notifications that may be sent by fraudulent sites. If LLM suspects something is wrong, Chrome will warn the user about the dubious nature of the messages.

The company also reported using artificial intelligence to combat search fraud, detecting and blocking hundreds of millions of such results every day.

Google has seen a rise in scammers posing as airline customer service representatives. It has reduced the number of such bad actors by more than 80%, reducing the risk of stumbling across a fraudulent phone number in a search.

Recall that in May, Google shares fell by 9% after information appeared online that Apple was “actively considering” redesigning the Safari web browser for AI search.

In April, OpenAI expressed interest in acquiring Chrome.
