Hackers have stolen the source code and confidential technical information of one of the world's largest password managers, LastPass. It is used by more than 33 million users and 100 thousand companies. As a result of the hack, the attackers were unable to gain access to customers' personal data or encrypted password vaults. To strengthen security measures and mitigate the effects of the attack, the company engaged a leading cybersecurity and forensics firm.
More than 70% of the software used in Kazakhstan is not licensed. This is stated in the draft concept for the development of the digital ecosystem of the republic for 2022–2027 (“Cybershield-2”), published on the Open Regulatory Legal Acts portal. The document also clarifies that issues related to strengthening the protection of personal data remain open.
