Hackers attacked the Los Angeles Unified School District

Using ransomware, hackers attacked the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second largest in the United States with more than 600,000 students from kindergarten to 12th grade.

The attackers attacked the equipment management system, which stores information about payments of private contractors, available on demand, and not confidential data.
The investigation and response involved the White House, the US Department of Education, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency.
Authorities believe the attack was international and have identified three potential countries where it could have originated.
