Goals

The SunRise² was launched to modernize Reckitt Nutrition’s aging ERP landscape and lay the foundation for long-term agility, resilience, and innovation. The primary goal was to migrate from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA on RISE Cloud, while transforming procurement, master data governance, and trade compliance processes. The project aimed to decommission legacy systems, reduce technical debt, and deliver measurable business value—executed globally with minimal disruption. It was designed not just as a technical upgrade, but as a strategic reinvention of how technology enables business, empowering teams to operate with greater speed, insight, and scalability.

Project Results

SunRise² delivered transformational outcomes across cost, efficiency, and business enablement. It achieved £2.2M in contract savings and £7.2M in annual recurring benefits across Finance, Procurement, and Sourcing—with £22.8M projected across broader functions. The migration was completed in 11 months with zero business disruption and a 61-hour cutover. Automation and GenAI accelerated delivery by 13%, improving code remediation productivity by 30%. The program enhanced data governance, compliance, and user experience, while creating a scalable, cloud-native platform for future innovation.

The uniqueness of the project

SunRise² stands out as a blueprint for enterprise-wide digital transformation. It achieved a full-stack modernization across ERP, procurement, data governance, and integration in just 11 months - supporting 5,000+ users across 48 systems and 800+ interfaces. The project combined brownfield and greenfield approaches leveraging UiPath and GenAI for code remediation and executed a 61-hour cutover with zero disruption to manufacturing. It was led from GCC Hub Hyderabad and involved 40+ global teams, with a robust OCM strategy that built a network of Super Users and Change Champions. SunRise² redefined how large enterprises can lead with technology, empower people, and unlock value at scale.

Used software

  • ERP Core: SAP S/4HANA (2023 FP1) on RISE Cloud (Azure) - Brownfield
  • Procurement: SAP Ariba Contract & Sourcing, Buying & Invoicing and Supplier Network
  • Data Governance: SAP MDG (Embedded)
  • Integration: SAP BTP Integration Suite connected with 50+ Application and 1000+ Interfaces (400+ Partners)
  • ETL: SAP Datasphere Replication Flow & Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Security & Access: SAP GRC Access Control, IAG and Okta SSO
  • Tax & Trade: OneSource Indirect Tax, SAP International Trade
  • Pricing & Rebates: Vistex V/4HANA
  • Network & Infrastructure: Palo Alto Firewall, Macsec Encryption, VNET Peering
  • Testing & Validation: OpenText ALM, SIT/UAT frameworks
  • Governance Tools: Spend Control Tower (SCT), SharePoint
  • Automation & Gen AI Enablement: UiPath, MS Copilot

Difficulty of implementation

The implementation was highly complex, involving 50+ connected systems, 1,000+ interfaces, and 5,000+ users across global sites. It required parallel execution of S/4HANA migration, Ariba, MDG, and International Trade rollouts. Challenges included deep code remediation, stakeholder alignment, data harmonization, and cutover coordination. The team overcame these through rigorous planning, sandbox testing, multiple rehearsals, and AI-driven acceleration. Organizational Change Management was critical, with Super Users and Change Champions driving adoption. Despite the scale and scope, the project was delivered seamlessly within 11 months.

Project Description

SunRise² was launched to address the strategic need for resilience, agility, and innovation at Reckitt Nutrition. With SAP ECC nearing end-of-life, the program aimed to modernize the ERP backbone and transform business operations globally. The go-live date was carefully chosen as 17-Feb-2025 (being a long weekend in North America region) to ensure minimal business impact.

The program delivered:

  • S/4HANA Migration: A full conversion using SUM with DMO, remediating 3,500+ custom objects and optimizing downtime to just 61 hours.
  • Cloud Transformation: Shifted infrastructure to SAP RISE on Azure, including GRC, Web Dispatcher, and Cloud Connector.
  • Procurement Modernization: Retired SRM and eBuy, implemented SAP Ariba for sourcing, buying and supplier onboarding.
  • Master Data Governance: Embedded MDG for material, vendor, and customer domains with BRF+ workflows and BTP replication.
  • Trade & Pricing: Replaced GTS with SAP International Trade and upgraded to Vistex V/4HANA.
  • Integration Overhaul: Migrated 1,000+ interfaces to SAP BTP Integration Suite, enabling API-driven, event-based architecture.
  • Security & Compliance: Unified login via Okta and SAP SSO; upgraded GRC for enhanced controls and SOX compliance.
  • Testing Excellence: Comprehensive SIT, UAT, performance, and security testing with defect triage and compliance validation.
  • Organizational Change Management: Built a global network of Super Users and Change Champions across 35 commercial and 8 manufacturing sites, driving adoption and sustainability.

Executed from Reckitt’s GCC hub, the program involved 40+ global teams and partners (SAP, Cognizant, Gyansys), and leveraged Automation and GenAI tools to accelerate delivery. It was a model of governance, agility, and business alignment—delivering not just a system upgrade, but a strategic transformation.

Project geography

SunRise² was executed globally, impacting 35 commercial sites and 8 manufacturing sites across North America, Latin America, and ASEAN. Key markets included the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Poland. The project supported over 5,000+ users across 10 business functions, ensuring standardized processes, seamless operations, and consistent user experience worldwide. Led from Reckitt Nutrition’s India Hub, the project demonstrated global coordination, regional customization, and enterprise-wide transformation.
